About the Book
The Tadpole Who Didn't Want to Be a Frog was written by Jim Dugan (the namesake of Bampa's House) and illustrated by Johanna van der Sterre. It was inspired by author Jim's great-niece Scarlett. Her class at school had a pet tadpole. Scarlett's grandmother, Jim's sister Judy, asked how the tadpole was doing one day, and Scarlett sadly replied: "The tadpole did not want to grow up to be a frog." Judy told Jim about what Scarlett had said, and Jim, a natural storyteller and lover of nature, thought it would be the perfect start to a great story. Luckily, he gave Polly a better fate than Scarlett's class pet.
